More than 50 MPs backing the Cost Effective Energy Measures Bill

Categories: Press Release

The Sustainable Energy Association welcomes the recent support given by over 50 MPs to the newly launched Cost Effective Energy Measures Bill.

The Bill would require the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change to draw up a ‘Cost Effective Energy Measures White Paper’, namely a national strategy to promote and accelerate the use of cost effective energy measures.

Dave Sowden, Chief Executive of the Sustainable Energy Association said:

‘We want to thank all MPs attending the event, the five parliamentarians: Green Party MP Caroline Lucas, the Rt Hon. the Lord Deben,  Labour Party MP Jonathan Reynolds, SNP MP Callum McCaig, The Rt Hon Tom Brake MP for Liberal Democrats as well as our chair Mike Simpson from Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers and our sponsors The Co-operative Energy (Ramsay Dunning), for their support and acknowledgement that a more buildings-focussed approach to energy can bring great benefits to the people and businesses of this country, saving the UK £12 billion p.a.

‘We call, once again, on successful Ballot MPs to adopt the Bill, with a thought in mind that if it becomes law, the Cost Effective Energy Measures Bill will save lives, save the country money and create jobs.

‘We will offer our considerable experience and all our supporting campaign resources to the MP who takes up this Bill.’
