Categories: Articles | Press Release

Richard Burnley, Vice President of the Sustainable Energy Association (SEA), today announced that Lesley Rudd, SEA Chief Executive, is to step down in February. Lesley, who has been Chief Executive of the SEA for the last 3 years and was Policy Director before that, is leaving the SEA to take up the role of Chief Executive of Electrical Safety First. Electrical Safety First is the UK charity dedicated to reducing the number of injuries and deaths caused by electricity across the UK.

Richard said:

“Lesley has been our Chief Executive for over 3 years, and in that time she has continued to build the SEA’s reputation for credibility, substance, innovative ideas, campaigning, and has achieved several positive policy outcomes that will prove valuable to the industry for many years to come. She leaves us in excellent shape – with credibility and superb access to key stakeholders in the media, civil service, relevant politicians and Special Advisers, and among wider key stakeholders.

“I’d like, on behalf of all the members, to thank Lesley for her excellent work over the past 5 years. Her exceptional organisation and networking skills have kept the SEA at the forefront of the industry’s dialogue with key stakeholders to ensure it plays its part in bringing about the zero carbon future. Lesley has been a pleasure to work with, and we all wish her well for the future.”

Lesley commented

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Sustainable Energy Association. The secretariat team are very talented and have been a pleasure to work with. I am sure they will continue to be at the forefront of policy development to deliver net zero. I would like to thank the SEA Executive, SEA President Lord Best and Vice President Richard Burnley, who have been a great support to me in my time as Chief Executive and a delight to work with.

I am very passionate about sustainability and achieving net zero and this has been a great motivation for me whilst working at the SEA. I am delighted therefore that my new role is campaigning in an area that I am equally passionate about – safety.”

The Sustainable Energy Association’s Executive Committee has begun an external recruitment process.
